MALAGA COMMERCE COLLECTIVE

The purpose behind the Collective.

Our constitution establishes the association’s purpose. Its objects connect business representation with economic opportunity, safety, innovation and community.

Representation and advocacy

The association’s objects include representing member businesses on local issues such as security, lighting, transport, communications, infrastructure, planning, amenity and the environment. They provide for a credible, unified voice to local, state and federal government, operating in a non-political and non-sectarian manner.

They also support participation in conferences and industry forums, and ongoing dialogue with business organisations, government agencies and relevant bodies.

Economic growth and precinct development

Our objects support business opportunities, investment and prosperity in Malaga and surrounding districts. They include engagement with local area planning, advocacy for precinct improvements and freight infrastructure, promotion of Malaga as a business location, and access to grants, training and business support.

Safety and community

The constitution’s objects recognise crime prevention, community safety and environmental design, alongside an inclusive business community that reflects the diversity of the City of Swan. They also include supporting businesses in understanding their employment, workplace safety and consumer responsibilities.

Innovation and sustainability

The objects encourage digital transformation, technology adoption and innovation, together with sustainable business practices, responsible waste management and environmental stewardship.

Member connection

Reciprocal trade, shared knowledge and regular business and social contact are central to our purpose. The objects provide for a forum where members can exchange experience, access peer support and strengthen commercial relationships.

Purpose before private benefit

The constitutional provisions direct the association’s property and income towards its objects and restrict distributions to members, while allowing good-faith payments in furtherance of those objects. They also recognise alignment with the City of Swan’s strategic community and local area planning processes.
